i read it in your ashes
this holy space made once lived long
with long history ancient
beautiful architectural crafting
fine to look at
interfaith for muslim and christian
to kneel
share bread
share stories of life
hear word of god
destroyed now by terrorists
burned to ground
burned to ground and now gone
so where now to worship for people cast out or gone to burial places
or just turned to ash and rest on ground?
to be touched by no one again with hugs and smiles
welcoming
children desecrated in this land of horror
syria
my children
i cry for you
with each breath that rise from my lungs
i ache for you my sweet hearts of little secrets
and whispers
send me your prayers from the ashes
i will read them
i will hear each imprint of words on your soul
that are strung like beads of jewelry
that mother make
she brush your cheek gentle yes like all mothers
she know your hungry cries all too well
she set out small toy she found in dirt for you to play
when have strength and safe to do so
and dear little one
you are not forgotten
though your cries are like so many
the writing on your ashes tell your story always
my little angels
have mercy on the world
you will make world
better by your laughter
here i read it in your ashes
you desire love only
and peace
yes syria
and all the world
here it is in small silent writing
though body gone
writing still speaks
my name is here impressed
and you can never erase it with any
hurtful ways
sun is here too
sun bring good things always
love to all
always love
sun bring good things always
